Event: Just a Minute (JAM) Competition

Venue: PODAR PEARL SCHOOL, Al Meshaf.
Organized by: ACTIVITIES DEPARTMENT.
Podar Pearl School organized a thrilling “Just a Minute” competition on 10th September 2024. Keeping in mind the schools vision and mission of holistic and strategic vision, this event was aimed at enhancing students’ quick-thinking, fluency, and communication skills. Participants were given one minute to speak on random topics without hesitation, deviation, or repetition, testing their ability to think on their feet.
Objectives:
* Encourage spontaneity in communication.
* Develop confidence and public speaking abilities.
* Improve language fluency.
* Encourage creative thinking among students.
Participants: Students from grades III-V, enthusiastically took part in the competition. A total of 30 students participated.
Format of the Competition: Each participant was given a topic on the spot and had to speak for exactly one minute. The topics ranged from abstract themes to current issues ,moral values, testing the depth of knowledge and communication style.
Judging Criteria: The participants were judged on:
* Relevance to the topic
* Fluency and coherence
* Confidence and body language
* Time management (speaking for the entire minute without pauses)
* Avoidance of hesitation, deviation, and repetition
Judges: The event was judged by a panel of experienced teachers and language experts, including:
1. Ms. DHRUVI VISHNU
2. Mr. ADARSH NAIR
Results will be declared in the assembly, and the winners will be awarded a certificate.
Conclusion: The Just a Minute competition was a huge success, leaving both the participants and audience energized and inspired. It provided a platform for students to showcase their language skills, creativity, and ability to perform under pressure. The event concluded with a round of applause for all participants and words of encouragement from the judges, who emphasized the importance of continuous learning and improvement in communication skills.
