Pearl School, Al Dafna Campus conducted an engaging Good Oral Hygiene Awareness Session for Class 6 students. Dr. Gowri from Al Dana Medical Center led the session and helped students understand the importance of maintaining good oral health and developing healthy dental habits from an early age.
The session began with an interactive discussion about why our teeth are important. Students learned that teeth help us chew food, speak clearly, maintain facial appearance, and support overall health and confidence. Through engaging explanations and discussions, Dr. Gowri encouraged students to understand the connection between good oral hygiene and overall well-being.
The session then focused on essential oral care practices. Dr. Gowri highlighted the importance of brushing teeth twice a day, flossing regularly, following a balanced diet, and visiting the dentist for routine check-ups. In addition, she explained how consistent oral hygiene practices can help prevent dental problems and keep teeth and gums healthy.
Students also learned about common dental problems such as tooth decay, cavities, gum disease, bad breath, plaque formation, and tooth sensitivity. Dr. Gowri explained the common causes of these conditions and emphasized the importance of prevention and early care. As a result, students gained a better understanding of how their daily habits can affect their oral health.
Students actively participated by asking questions, sharing their experiences, and discussing their daily oral care routines. Moreover, the interactive approach helped them understand why good oral hygiene should become an important part of their everyday routine.
The awareness session successfully encouraged students to take greater responsibility for their oral health. By adopting simple habits such as brushing twice daily, flossing regularly, eating a balanced diet, and scheduling regular dental check-ups, students can maintain healthy teeth and gums and support their overall well-being.
Ms. Devika S., School Nurse, took the initiative to organise and conduct the Good Oral Hygiene Awareness Session, providing students with valuable knowledge and practical guidance on maintaining healthy oral care habits.
