The Pearl School students actively engaged in the Round Square Zoom Postcard session on Wednesday, 4 June 2025, centered around the theme, “”Unpacking Democracy in the 21st Century: What are the pillars of democracy in your country?”. This 90-minute virtual event saw the participation of over 80 students from 15 schools across five countries—Armenia, India, Kenya, Qatar, and the UAE.

The session began with a warm welcome and an introduction to the day’s theme, encouraging students to reflect on the foundational elements of democracy in their own countries. Through interactive breakout rooms and guided discussions, participants explored key democratic pillars such as freedom of speech, rule of law, equality, citizen participation, and accountability.

The students shared thoughtful insights on Qatar’s approach to governance, highlighting the importance of national vision, inclusive development, and cultural values in shaping democratic ideals. The exchange offered a valuable opportunity for students to compare democratic practices across different regions and to consider the challenges and opportunities democracy faces in the 21st century.

The session concluded with a group reflection, emphasizing mutual respect, open-mindedness, and the power of youth in shaping future democratic societies. Participation in the Round Square network continues to inspire Pearl School students to become active, informed, and responsible global citizens.
