Grade 1 & 2: English Poem Recitation (Meshaf Campus 2024-25)

Introduction: The English Poem Recitation Competition was held on 24^th September 2024 at Podar Pearl School in Al Meshaf campus, showcasing the literary talents of our students. The event aimed to encourage students to explore the beauty of poetry, enhance their speaking skills, and build confidence in public performance.

Objective: Encouraging participants and audiences to appreciate poetry as an art form and explore its themes, styles, and emotions. Helping participants develop confidence and skills in public speaking, including voice modulation, expression, and body language. It makes students understand the value of literature and can choose a career in literature. They can enhance their creativity in writing and oral skills.

Participants: Students of Grade 1 and 2 participated, demonstrating a wide range of poetic styles and themes. Participants took to the stage, reciting works from renowned poets as well as their original compositions.

Highlights of the Event: The competition began with an inspiring opening by the compere, who emphasized the importance of poetry in expressing emotions and thoughts. Each participant brought their unique interpretation to the poems, captivating the audience with their passion and creativity.

Judging Criteria: The judging panel, consisting of Ms. Vandana and Ms. Jesmi, Ms. Druvi and Mr. Adrash Nair evaluated participants based on:

• Gestures: Emotion and body language conveyed during the recitation.
• Confidence: Engagement with the audience and confidence.
• Content: Originality and appropriateness of the selected piece.
• Pronunciation: Enunciation and projection of voice.

 Conclusion: The English Poem Recitation Competition was a resounding success, fostering a love for poetry among students and providing a platform for them to express themselves creatively. The event not only highlighted the talents of our students but also encouraged a sense of community through the shared appreciation of literature.
