THIMUN 2026 gave students an exciting chance to step into the shoes of global diplomats. The conference focused on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 2 (SDG 2: Zero Hunger). Its goal was to explore global food security, sustainable agriculture, and practical ways to end hunger worldwide.
Additionally, students learned about the structure and functioning of the Hague Model United Nations. They understood how informed debates, diverse perspectives, and collaborative problem-solving can create a fairer, more equitable world. The event emphasized that teamwork and dialogue are essential to solving global challenges.
The theme, “SDG 2: Zero Hunger,”, set the stage for engaging discussions and dynamic diplomacy. Over 1,250 delegates participated across 16 committees, with 60 representatives per committee. Delegates came from 55 international schools in Qatar and abroad, representing 72 nationalities. This included 13 schools from the Ministry of Education for Arabic and French committees. Together, participants explored solutions to hunger and shared innovative ideas for a sustainable future.
Students from Podar Pearl School showed remarkable dedication throughout the conference. They tackled real-world diplomatic challenges, collaborated on innovative solutions, and explored international politics. Delegates displayed ambition and resilience while addressing inequality and promoting fairness. They learned that hunger is more than a lack of food. It is also a barrier to health, education, and opportunity. Achieving zero hunger requires innovation, cooperation, and sustainable practices that protect both people and the planet.
The conference began with an inspiring opening ceremony, featuring a musical performance by The American School of Doha’s High School Choir and Wind Ensemble. Presided over by the THIMUN executive team, the ceremony highlighted the power of MUN in building diplomacy, global awareness, and critical thinking.
During committee sessions, delegates actively participated in moderated and unmoderated caucuses. They brought energy, insight, and thoughtful contributions to every discussion. Meanwhile, Press, IT, and Admin teams ensured the smooth functioning of the event.
The closing ceremony featured a lively performance by the Qatar Music Academy (QMA). It celebrated achievements, friendships, and the vibrant spirit of THIMUN 2026. Following the ceremony, students attended Cultural Night at the Ceremonial Court, Education City. They wore traditional attire and participated in cultural activities that reflected the unity and diversity of the conference.
